Route for HS2 through Lowton

Coming off the West Coast Main Line at Bamfurlong cutting across the Golborne side of Dover Lock then running through the Lightshaw Hall area where a new Rolling Stock Maintenance Depot is to be built. Then it crosses Slag Lane at the junction with Byrom Lane cutting through the fields to the back of the Civic Hall where it will take half of the playing fields away. It then crosses Newton Rd; it looks like buildings will have to be demolished in this area to get it to the Bridge on the A580. Here it crosses the A580 continues to Wilton Lane crossing it by Whites Farm, then onward over the existing railway line to the west of Culcheth.

Main items to consider

New road off Wigan Road before Dover Lock to service Rolling Stock Depot

Slag Lane and Byrom Lane to be closed

New road off Slag Lane to connect with Sandy Lane

Residential and commercial property demolitions at Newton Road near existing bridge
